Phillip Island houses the internationally renowned Grand Prix circuit; therefore there are a number of large motorsport races held here which draw thousands of spectators each year.
The Australian Motorcycling International Island Classic is Australia’s largest historic motorcycle race and the third largest motorcycling event on the Australian calendar behind the MotoGP and World Superbike events.
International Island Classic 2023 Event Race Dates, Phillip Island
Running for close to 3 decades, the International Island Classic features the International Challenge which is fiercely contested between Australia, the UK and USA.
Those with their own bikes are also encouraged to register for the Shannons Parade Lap where spectators can ride a play of the Grand Prix Circuit during this event. Your bike simply needs to be a pre-1990 non-competition motorcycle for you to participate in this fun event.
Many spectators to this event, camp onsite as there is plenty of space available only a short distance away from the track. Alternatively, there are plenty of other accommodation options available all over Phillip Island.

Hi Shane,
Thanks for the feedback, but unfortunately we are just a local tourist information website and have no affiliation to the event or the organisers.
I would recommend reaching out to them at [email protected] or their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PhillipIslandCircuit.
Thanks
Michael
Is it true that Team UK have pulled out of the 2019 Island Classic?
Hi Rob,
Reading some of the news articles out there, it definitely seems that way and the team itself confirming it. Please see the articles at https://www.mcnews.com.au/island-classic-team-uk-roger-winfield/ and http://www.bikesportnews.com/news/news-detail/british-phillip-island-classic-team-unable-to-commit-for-2019.
Thanks

Hi, just wondering if there are any public transport options for getting to Phillip Island from Melbourne and back while the Island Classic is on during January?
Best Wishes from Peter.
Hi Peter,
Your best option is to catch a bus from Melbourne. The train service takes you out to Dandenong and then you have to switch buses, so its not worth the extra time.
A number of V/Line bus services run between Southern Cross Station in Melbourne and several towns on Phillip Island including Newhaven, Cape Woolamai, Surf Beach, Sunderland Bay and Cowes. All services require a change at Koo Wee Rup and takes around 2 hours to get to the bridge (San Remo) and a further 20 to 25 minutes to Cowes.
Refer to the V/Line timetable for Melbourne to Cowes or check out the PTV Journey Planner to search specific locations for departure and arrival.
Best regards,
Jess
Have the sale of tickets for the International Island Classic in January gone on sale yet?
Hi Kathy,
I can’t find any tickets online for the January 2017 event. In previous years, I was only aware of tickets being sold at the gates, so not sure if tickets will be available online. Check back with us and I will update if a ticket link appears.
Regards,
Jess
Hi, I am wondering if you can please advise the date for the classic supers in 2017?

Any motorbike events in March at Philip Island, please.
Friends are visiting us from GB in March and very interested in seeing some bike racing at Philip Island ,during the last three weeks of March.
Hi Jane,
I have checked the Race Track website and it seems like there is no racing events in March – in fact you just miss out as the World Superbike Championship are on February 21-23, 2014.
There are still different tours and activities you can do at the race circuit all year round.
You can find more info at: http://www.phillipislandcircuit.com.au/
Thanks,
Michael
