Targa Florio in Australia will give drivers a peek into what it’s like to take classic cars for a spin on scenic roads. Unleash your passion while sightseeing the many famous tourist destinations around the area. Stop by scenic wineries and enjoy terrific food and wine as you take part in a historic European driving event that is over 100 years old.
There are two competition stages involved in Targa Florio: time trials (prove cronometrate) and average speed tests (prove di media). Time trials are short sections that are around 40 to 400 meters long, each in a correct set time. Drivers are timed based on the timing tubes to start and end each of these stages; there are over 70 of these during the event and are timed to 1/100 of a second. Meanwhile, the average speed tests require drivers to maintain the set average speed during the 5-10km distance set. There will be 1 or 2 of these competitions each day.
Spectators will also be in for a treat during Targa Florio. Over the four-day course of the festival, you’ll get to witness some of the most beautiful cars roar by Victoria’s winding roads. Cheer for the drivers, and you may even get to meet them up close during the socials. The Grand Finale at the end of the event is a spectacular opportunity to see the cars and meet the drivers as well.
