Anchorage Beach

Anchorage Beach, located close to Ventnor Beach, is a popular attraction on Phillip Island; renowned for breathtaking coastal views, and numerous beach activities – making it a top choice for holidaymakers looking to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea.

Anchorage Beach, Caravan Park, Camping & General Store

Anchorage Beach is just five minutes away from the Phillip Island Penguin Parade – a fun family-friendly attraction where kids can watch penguins in their natural habitat.

Additionally, Anchorage Beach is also a short distance from Cowes Beach; a favourite of families especially during the summer thanks to shallow waters and jetty facilities. Visitors are greeted with breathtaking island views upon arrival, as well as the picturesque Mornington Peninsula in the distance.

Convenient and affordable accommodation at Anchorage Beach can be found at the Anchorage Caravan Park. The area is situated in a tranquil semi-rural environment which provides holidaymakers with the opportunity of basking in the idyllic countryside while staying in close proximity to the beach and nearby attractions. There are Standard Cabins (good for up to 5 people), Deluxe Cabins (good for up to 9 people), and backpacker units for travellers on a budget. The cool grassed camping sites are recommended for travellers who want to commune with nature outdoors.

Anchorage Caravan Park also has facilities such as electric BBQ’s, a Laundromat, camp kitchen, showers, and washrooms. Pets may be welcome, although this depends on the manager’s discretion. If you intend to visit Anchorage Beach with your pet, it is recommended to book in advance.

Anchorage Beach offers plentiful activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy: beach walks, photography, water sports and fun beach games. However, the beach isn’t suitable for surfing due to its challenging waves and lack of lifeguard patrol.

From Melbourne, the quickest way to get to Phillip Island is by car. The journey takes around an hour and 45 minutes. The route starts at Citylink/M1 in Southbank, and ends at the Phillip Island Link Road in Bass. From there, take the Phillip Island Road/B420 and Back Beach Road to Troutmans Road in Ventnor.
