George Bass Coastal Walk

The George Bass Coastal Walk is a scenic trail highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy spectacular coastal sights.

It’s named after a famous voyager who, 200 years ago, took this very same trail that stretches from the Punchbowl carpark at San Remo all the way along the Bass Highway to Kilcunda.

The distance of the walk is 7 kilometres, and takes around 2 hours each way. It’s estimated to be a level 3 walk, which means it’s suitable for visitors of most ages and easy enough no matter what your fitness level is. However, it’s ideal to have some bushwalking experience since some parts of the track have steep areas and rough surfaces.

Walk the very same steps George Bass took during his epic discovery, and don’t forget to bring your camera. Make sure to wear appropriate clothing; comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as well as a hat and sunscreen during summer. During certain times of the year, the walk can get extremely windy.

Bring a sense of adventure; the George Bass Coastal Walk is a great way to sightsee and burn some calories while you’re at it.
